USS Massachusetts (BB-59) was launched in 1941, during World War II. The ship was involved in many naval expeditions including the Pacific War. In 1965, after being of service to the nation, the vessel was donated to Massachusetts Memorial Committee. Thereafter it was converted into a museum, and a tour of the battleship educates patrons about the ship's accomplishments. A video tape of interviews of the sailors who worked on the ship talking about their wartime experiences is shown to visitors.. The ship is a tribute to all the deceased crew members who died in war and the names of these martyrs are listed on the ship.
