Spread across 598 acres (242 hectares), Burnham Park is a local gem worth the visit. Established in the 1920s, it is named in honor of Daniel H. Burnham, an architect and urban designer. The park was the result of his conceptualization of a lakefront park in the city. At this expansive park, you will find outdoor sculptures adorning its green spaces. Comprising landscaped areas, war memorials, kids' playgrounds, bird sanctuaries, a scenic point, beaches, a skate park, trails and a couple of harbors, this parkland also hosts festivals and concerts often.
