The erstwhile abode of the then Romanian President Nicolae Ceaușescu and his family, Spring Palace exudes a subtle palatial grandeur which is unlike any other in the whole of Romania. Permeated with lovely pastel hues complemented by gilded undertones, this opulent palace shelters rooms which are richly-ornamented with mosaics, luminescent chandeliers, wallpapers, floral upholstery and paintings by revered Romanian artists. Built between 1970-1971, the palace draws from an amalgam of architectural styles including Baroque, Neo-Classical and Renaissance. Having turned to shambles in the wake of the end of Romania’s Communist regime, the Spring Palace was beautifully resurrected over time, standing today as a striking testimony to the royal heritage of Romania. Fronted gracefully by well-pruned lawns dotted with vibrant blooms, ‘Ceaușescu Palace’, is, indubitably, one of the prized possessions of the country.
