The medieval town of Melsungen is also a spa town in Hesse. Surrounded by low mountains, it is situated along the banks of the River Fulda. This small town is known for its charming half-timbered streets from the Middle Ages. Fachwerkstadt in the Old Town has many examples in a compact area. The Rathaus, Melsunger Schloss, Eulenturm, Zweipfenningsbrücke and Marketplace are some of its key attractions. The annual wine contest and cabaret tournament bring a activity to this otherwise sleepy town.
