A quaint Bavarian town, Altötting is steeped in culture and history. Ensconced in the beauty of the Upper-Bavarian Alps, this little town has close to 12,000 residents, and it is often buzzing with visitors. Altötting is a revered pilgrimage site known for the Shrine of Our Lady of Altötting - a church that commemorates the Blessed Virgin Mary. Built during the mid-17th Century, the shrine is home to the Black Madonna - a wooden recreation of the Virgin Mary that is believed to me more than 600 years old. The Collegiate Church of Saints Philip and James and the Town Hall are other architectural wonders of Altötting that are worthy of visitors' attention.
