Situated on a Peninsula and flanked by Belmont Bay, Pohick Bay and the Potomac River, Mason Neck State Park offers some breathtaking waterfront views almost everywhere you look. The topography is unique, comprising of forests, wetlands and open fields, interspersed with ponds and areas of open water. Hike along the wooded trails for an enriching experience, or paddle your canoe out into the open water, for Belmont Bay and Kane's Creek are famous for its water-based activities. All that being said, the most attractive feature of the park is its resident avian superstar, the bald eagle, which draws in bird-watchers from far and wide. Also keep your binoculars trained for ospreys, great blue herons and white-tailed deer.
