Joseph's Place, Bogside, Londonderry, BT48 9DR
This monument is dedicated to the memory of the fourteen people " murdered by British Paratroopers" on January 30, 1972, a day remembered by all within Derry/Londonderry as Bloody Sunday. It was unveiled by Mrs B Bond of the Civil Rights Association on the 26/1/74. It is a solemn, well-maintained and quite inconspicuous stone dedication to those who lost their lives in the close-knit surrounding streets. " Their epitaph ", it reads, " is in the continuing struggle for democracy ". Since then, another much larger monument has been erected nearby.
