At the Kerry Bog Village, six separate cottage dwellings have been restored to reflect rural Irish life in days gone by. Traditional tools used on the bog are on display. The process involved in saving turf and its previous pivotal importance is explained through interesting exhibits and photographs. The rare Bog Pony is also part of the village. Used to pull overloaded carts full of turf across the bog and to the farm, this sturdy breed was thought extinct until only recently. The Bog Village has an active breeding program to help restore the pony population.
