Sprawled at the foot of the Helmsley Castle, adjoining the Duncombe Park, is the sublime, 18th-century Helmsley Walled Garden. Home to the Long Border, Cottage Garden, historic glasshouses and apple orchards, this impressive garden packs in an array of picture-perfect sights. Formerly serving as a major employer for the locals, the garden was left abandoned and derelict before being restored to its Victorian glory, in 1984. Followed by their leisurely wander along the expanse here, tourists visiting the garden must make a headway to the on-site Vine House Café to refuel and replenish.
