TOURIST ATTRACTIONS & SIGHTSEEING, PRACTICAL INFORMATION
The tower of the Neo-gothic Herz-Jesu-Kirche (Heart of Jesus Church) dominates Graz's skyline and is Austria's third-highest church tower, measuring at a height of 109 meters (357.61 feet). The church was designed and built by architect Georg Hauberrisser der Ältere between the years 1881 and 1887, although a section of its altar was rebuilt in 1988 by another architect, Gustav Troger. The bells were also destroyed during the World War I and were later replaced. Three artists from Vienna are responsible for the 18 large paintings inside the church, which also features splendid stained glass windows and spectacular interiors with vaulted ceilings.
