From the museums on the hill in Flensburg you can enjoy a fantastic view of the city and the harbor. They can be reached by a steep flight of steps running alongside the city's bank (Stadtsparkasse) only a short walk from the main shopping precinct. The permanent exhibitions are housed in two buildings, each with a main focal point of interest. A comprehensive impression of the area can be obtained through both the furniture and art collections. A special feature is the original wood-panelled rooms which originate from old farm and country houses on the North Sea coast and stem back to the 17th and 18th centuries. The works of art from the past two centuries are regularly supplemented with temporary exhibitions of special interest.
