Flaxton

High on the ridge of the Blackall Range, along the spectacular Tourist Drive, the quaint village of Flaxton features many fine examples of early-Queenslander's solid timber homes with spacious verandas and great character. There are clusters of restaurants, motels and guesthouses scattered all over. Interspersed among all this character are interesting gift shops with unusual hand-made goods and little galleries featuring local artists. In good weather you can watch the hang-gliders launch from the escarpment, gliding peacefully on colorful wings to a backdrop of spectacular coastline. Come, indulge!
