Nya Ullevi, or Ullevi Stadium, has hosted scores of international sports and music events since its opening in 1958; this stadium has seen it all. Ullevi is used by popular local clubs for soccer matches and also hosts major sporting events, its first being the 1958 FIFA World Cup. Sports fans have witnessed the World Cup, World Athletics Championship games, the European Championships, over 54 international fixtures, three-plus World Cup qualifiers, and seven-plus UEFA Cup finals at the stadium! Ullevi has also staged some major concerts featuring the likes of the Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Pink Floyd, Tina Turner, Michael Jackson, U2 and AC/DC. The arena has top-class standards in terms of design, technical features, and services. It is one of the Nordic countries' largest, with a seating capacity of 43,000 while for concerts, Nya Ullevi can accommodate close to 75,000. Although primarily used for football matches and athletics, fans of sports such as ice hockey, racing, speed skating, and boxing are also catered to at this mammoth, multi-purpose outdoor arena.
