Two decades after the formation of the Los Angeles-Orange County State College in 1949, the City of Long Beach took up the responsibility of exclusively educating the Long Beach students by starting an autonomous university of its own. Today California State University offers courses in art, management and science along with gaining the prestigious recognition of having the best campus facilities among other universities in and around the area. Venues such as the University Art Museum attract visitors to see the development of art and provide students with an outlet to showcase their talent.
