Burghley House is one of the most elegant Elizabethan structures in Lincolnshire, England. The grand building dates back to the 16th Century when it was constructed by Sir William Cecil (later known as Lord Burghley), who served as the Secretary of State and then esteemed Treasurer in the royal court of Queen Elizabeth I. The mansion is reminiscent of the marvelous Elizabethan architecture that so gorgeously decks up England. The engraved walls, the towering ceilings, the intricate stonework in every corner, the medieval staircases, the elongated courtyard and the refreshing green lawns are heavenly sights. Visitors can enjoy a self-guided tour of the house and Gardens of Surprise, buy memorabilia from the Gift Shop and relax at the Orangery restaurant. The parklands surrounding the house may be visited free of charge and are open daily.
