Art Theatre of Long Beach

Art Theatre of Long Beach is the only surviving single screen, independent theater in the city. Built in 1924, the art deco style has fascinated locals and visitors since decades and still continues to do so. A one million dollar renovation has carefully modernized the space with a state-of-the-art sound and light setup and comfortable seating. However care has been taken to ensure that the splendid old world elements still exist. The well stocked wine and coffee bars attract independent film makers and artists who stop by for some intellectual conversation. Do not expect typical Hollywood blockbusters here; this is the theater for foreign language films, hard hitting documentaries, alternative cinema, and cult classics.
