This 19th-century Gothic building has been entertaining since it was erected in 1884. It got its present name in 1905 after a major renovation and has hosted the crème de la crème of that era's entertainment history. During the 1960s, its popularity waned, however due to the efforts of the Macon Arts Council, Grand Opera House was saved from destruction. It is now managed by the Mercer University and hosts Broadway shows, musicals, concerts and theatrical acts.
