Ellen Eccles Theater, known as Capitol Theater in 1923, had fallen into disrepair and neglect in the 1980s and was in the course of being shut down permanently. Due to the much-publicized efforts of a group of conservationist citizens. it was renovated and revitalized to its previous glory and came to be known as Ellen Eccles Theater in 1993. Capable of accommodating a crowd of about 1110, this venue, today, is one of the most happening for performing arts in the city. Today it hosts a variety of live performances, including concerts, musicals, and lectures. The venue is equipped with a superb lighting technology and brilliant acoustics that ensure every performance that takes place here is an immersive one.
