Schützenplatz Hannover is sprawled over 10 hectares (24.71 acres) and is one of Germany's largest fairgrounds. It was originally a training zone for the army but transformed into a major event venue. Today, three million people visit the ground because it is the site of internationally-famous festivals. The most prominent is the Schützenfest Hannover, the largest of its kind in the world. Other events include the Street Mag Show, Oktoberfest Hannover and the Frühlingsfest Hannover (Spring Festival), along with major circuses, automobile shows and fairs. This fairground can be accessed via any of its five historic gates.
