TOURIST ATTRACTIONS & SIGHTSEEING, PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Much like Rome, the city of Veszprém was founded on seven hills. This city has always held a special place in the hearts of Hungary's royalty; the Bishop of Veszprém traditionally crowned the country's queens here. Frequented by tourists all year-round, the city offers a glimpse of fine medieval architecture. Since it was untouched during the tumultuous World War II, many of the city's buildings and relics remain unscathed. Overlooking the entire city is the Veszprém Castle, which is a prominent tourist attraction, along with Kittenberger Kálmán Zoo & Botanical Garden, St. Michael's Cathedral and Tűztorony.
