Overlooking the sparkling Wascana Lake, the Saskatchewan Legislative Building with its stately Beaux-Arts elements forms Regina's political centerpiece. Built between 1908 through 1912, it was designed by Edward and William Sutherland Maxwell in a stunning crucifix layout. The impressive facade of this symmetric structure is made from the province's Tyndall stone, while its elaborate staircase leads to elegant, marble-striped rooms. Its majestic dome forms a striking part of the city's skyline, and its landscaped gardens are a perfect foil to its exalted edifice. The site of the Saskatchewan Parliament, the Legislative Building invites visitors to admire the historic snippets that decorate its interiors, including a striking rotunda, the assembly chamber, and the grand library.
