This historical village outside the city of Palermo has been dated to the 3rd Century BCE, the official date being 1253. It has lived through all the eras of domination of Sicily, such as the that of the Normans or the Arabs and so on. Seated on a small mountain called Ypsigro, it resides not too far from the sea. The monuments not to be missed are the Castle and the relics of Sant'Anna, patron saint of the village. The earthquakes of 1818 destroyed a big part of the monuments recently restored by the public administration.
