The Shankill road is a 2.4 kilometer (1.49 miles) long arterial road stretching towards the West Belfast and through an area dominated by Protestants belonging to working class group. Bypassing the partly residential area of Shankill, the road has been at the center of conflict between the Loyalist groups. Besides, a series of shops, restaurants and bars and entertainment centers are lined along the road leading up to the Woodvale Avenue. You can also find murals of the leaders of loyalist groups, Ulster Volunteer Force (U.V.F.) and Ulster Defence Association (U.D.A.), on the walls facing the road.
