Mansfield has the curious distinction of having been referred to by numerous names over the ages; Mansfield Village, Dicksons Mills, Dixons Mills, Dublin and New Dublin. Established in 1820 by James Kelsey who called it New Dublin, it was a thriving mill town with carding and sash mills which provided employment to people. Today the Mansfield Village Annual Mushroom Festival attracts visitors each April when prizes are giving to the highest collector of mushrooms. This is a great chance to indulge in some hearty mushroom delicacies and meet the friendly townsfolk.
