Located in Indiana's Hamilton County, Carmel was actually referred to as Bethlehem until 1874. A major attraction with visitors and locals is the Carmel Monon Community Center which is an outdoor park with pools, running tracks, slides, gymnasiums and a banquet center. The city center is a plush neighborhood with stylish commercial establishments, swanky restaurants and banks while the Arts and Design District is a haven for artists, students, backpackers and art enthusiasts who flock here for a range of events and festivals.
