Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway, LeBreton Flats, Ottawa, ON, Canada, K1A 0M8
Named in honor of the famous native, John LeBreton, LeBreton Flats is a thriving neighborhood in the city of Ottawa. The neighborhood covers a scenic stretch of land along the banks of the Ottawa River. During the 1800s, the neighborhood was home to a community of laborers who serviced the lumber mills that occupied the nearby islands. However, the Great Fire of 1900 laid waste to these mills and left many homeless. Today the LeBreton Flats have been redeveloped and revitalized. The neighborhood is centered around the Canadian War Museum and the LeBreton Flats Park. The park and its surroundings are a popular choice for concerts and major events, including the ever popular Ottawa Bluesfest.
