Cross Ranch State Park lies on one of the last stretches of land that remains unperturbed alongside the mighty Missouri River. A protected area, this park is prominent from the natural as well as cultural point of view. The first to discover the abundance of natural sources that this land possessed were the Mandan Indians who settled in and around the area, the proof of which remains in archaeological finds. Lewis and Clark also wrote on this land, thus making it historically prominent as well. Visitors can discover this park by hiking, or by renting a boat on the river, and there are also cabins for camping.
