Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this sprawling cemetery holds historical significance as the resting place of Confederate and Union soldiers who died during the Civil War. It was originally a cemetery for men who died in Union hospitals when Beaufort was occupied during that war. Also interred here are several Medal of Honor Recipients. Designed in the shape of a half-circle, the cemetery is accessible by driving through at the entrance from Boundary Street. A one-of-a-kind experience awaits visitors here at the Beaufort National Cemetery.
