Deutzer Brücke, Cologne, 50667
The original Deutzer Bridge was built in 1915, as Hindenburg Bridge, across River Rhine to connect Innenstadt with Cologne-Deutz. Unfortunately, the original suspension bridge was destroyed in February of 1945 and had to be replaced by a simpler girder bridge designed by Gerd Lohmer and Fritz Leonhardt. This bridge, running about 185 meters (605.1 feet) long, has been quite the inspiration for many engineers throughout the world.
