Crossed by the Serpis river, Alcoy is a Spanish city in the Alicante province. The history of this city dates back to the prehistoric times as indicated by neanderthal rock paintings. Later signs of Roman settlements can also be found here. Today, tourists come here to look at the many historic sights or to celebrate the Catalan festival of Moros i Cristians. Some places worth seeing while in this city include the rock paintings, the Barchell Castle, the Baroque church of Santa Maria and the Archaeological Museum.
