A one-of-a-kind landmark in the history of Austria, the AKW Zwentendorf is a nuclear power plant that was built but that was never functional. Owing to a referendum in the year 1978, it was decided that the power plant would be not become operational. Now the nuclear plant is a training center for technicians, as well as a location for filming, photography and events. It also only makes use of solar energy for all its energy needs. If you are interested in learning more about nuclear power plants, or solar energy, take a guided tour around the AKW Zwentendorf.
