Cornwall is known for its jagged coastline, picturesque shore and beaches. Fistral is one such beach on the Atlantic in the town of Newquay in Wales. This 750-meter (2460.63-foot) beach stretches from the north-east to the south-west and is characterized by a clear blue sea and sandy patches broken by seaside plants, grasses and dunes. The powerful swells make it the preferred spot for surfing competitions. Professional surfers from all over the globe head here for international tournaments. This beach is the site of the Museum of British Surfing as well as the headquarters of prominent surfing clubs. Besides water sports events, the annual Boardmasters Festival of live music is hosted here, along with skating and surfing contests.
