Designed by the world renowned Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer, the Sambadrome Marquês de Sapucaí is a multi-purpose arena located in the heart of Rio de Janeiro. Constructed in 1984, it hosts annual Carnival parades that attract tourists from all over the world who come to experience the vibrant side of Brazilian culture. With the capability of accommodating up to 90,000 people, it is not surprising that this state-of-the-art arena is chosen as a venue for many events. Additional functions include samba school parade competitions and concerts.
