Burning Coal Theatre Company

Burning Coal is a small professional theater company that performs experiential, minimalist theater. The company emphasizes non-traditional theater, and often puts on intimate, high-energy performances of re-examined classic and contemporary plays. The Murphey School Auditorium, where the company regularly performs, was once a crumbling high school auditorium, and has been remodeled as a modern black box theater. Burning Coal Company also runs varied educational programs that bring professional performers into schools to conduct workshops, expose students to Shakespeare, and organize a festival of student-written plays.
