Salem Common, located in the heart of Salem, Massachusetts, is steeped in history. It was founded in the 17th Century with its boundaries being defined in 1667. This district featured in the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. The archway at its entrance is a replica of Samuel McIntire’s original creation. Historical houses and Federal buildings in and around the area illustrate Colonial Revival and Victorian school of architecture. This neighborhood namesake park is a natural oasis and popular recreational spot among locals.
