Schloss St. Emmeram, also known as St. Emmeram Basilica and St. Emmeram Abbey, was a monastic complex built in 8th Century. Besides its religious importance, this abbey was known for its in-house library which featured a plethora of Christian literature and also books pertaining to mathematics, grammar, music and more. The current Baroque facade of the abbey dates back to the 18th Century when it was majorly renovated. In the 19th Century, this abbey was converted into a residence for the noble family of Thurn und Taxis and since then has been known as Schloss St. Emmeram. Now, this is a popular tourist spot and houses a museum chronicling the local history. Besides, this venue is used as a platform for several cultural events.
