Located in the heart of the city, Schloss Reichstädt is a historic castle dating back to the 13th Century. The castle is known for its rich history and has been passed down to many owners over the years. The noble family Schönberg was in possession of the castle for the longest time. Adam Rudolph von Schönberg made noteworthy additions and refurbished the castle too. There was a memorial dedicated to him, erected by Caspar Hugo von Schonberg, which was later removed by the Soviet army during the Second World War. During the same time, there was a lot of damage done to the castle and a lot of valuable treasure was lost. Later, the castle was used as a school, a kindergarten, and a cultural center. Today, the castle is available for events, functions, and accommodation purposes as well.
