Edward John Dingle, better known as Ding Le Mei, a journalist of British origin who spent decades learning under a Lama Master in Tibet, founded the Institute of Mentalphysics in 1927. Fusing together Western and Eastern philosophies, Mentalphysics is a combination of breathing techniques and meditation. More than 225,000 students have benefited from Ding Le Mei's methods of spiritual awakening here. The institute itself is a serene and peaceful looking structure, which is now called the Joshua Tree Retreat Center, and organizes many workshops on mental and spiritual healing.
