Museum Festung Dömitz

The Museum Festung Dömitz is located in one of the oldest Renaissance fortresses in Northern Germany, which still remains mostly intact. The moated flatland fort has was constructed in the 16th Century and is shaped like a pentagon. In 1953, the fortress was renovated and turned into a museum. Along with tours of the cellar, casements and bastions and permanent exhibits in the museum, temporary displays touching upon numerous topics are also often organized here. Several cultural programs also take place in the festunghof and the powder cellar of the fortress.
