Built in 1926 as a knockabout schooner in Essex, MA, the Adventure Schooner is a landmark national monument with a long history. This 122-foot (37-meter) wooden dory schooner is steeped in fishing heritage and is one of the only two surviving boats of its kind. In August 2013, the Adventure sailed again after two decades and the cruise went wonderfully. It was officially declared a National Historic Landmark in 1994, and has since served as a key site on the Essex National Heritage Area Maritime Trail. It was certified to sail again, and is available for marine excursions.
