Complutense University of Madrid

Universidad Complutense de Madrid is a public research academic center in the heart of Madrid. Its long-standing history dates back to the Middle Ages. In the year 1293, Castile's King Sancho IV established the Studium General. On the request of of the institute's former student, Cardinal Cisneros, Pope Alexander decided to convert it into a full-time university. One of Spain's largest universities, its campus covers a sprawling area, with branches in Somosaguas and Moncloa regions. The learning center has significantly benefited streams like political science, fine arts and sciences. It offers programs in literature, medicine, philosophy and sciences, among other field. Noted alumni are celebrated writers Antonio de Nebrija and scientist Severo Ochoa. Several heads of state have also graduated from Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Some of the spaces within the university can also be rented for a wide range of events.
