Bergmannsdom is a popular religious landmark of the city. It is considered to be the largest Protestant church in Essen. The structure was built in 1900 according to the plans of famous German architect- Karl Nordmann. It was consecrated on September 29, 1901 and has a capacity to accommodate over 1430 worshipers. The beautiful late- Romanesque facade is considered to be one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. In 1991, the church was listed as a protected monument.
