Housed in a lovely Victorian farmhouse, the Somerset Rural Life Museum depicts the rural and agricultural history of Somerset. The stunning Abbey Barn dating from the 4th Century makes up the centerpiece of the museum. Displays include local crafts and old tools and machinery used for mud horse fishing, cider making, peat digging, etc from the early 20th Century. There are craft demonstrations, sessions on farming and activities for kids and families. The barn was originally used for storage of wheat and rye and for agricultural activities like threshing and winnowing. It is assigned a Grade I by English Heritage. Admissions are free.
