This historic church dates back to 670, and is dedicated to St. Peter ad Vincula The original wood structure was demolished and replaced by a stone church in 805. Although a few remains of this structure can still be found around the church and grounds, the existing Stoke Minster was built in 1826. This magnificent church has a rich historical background which is reflected in its every aspect. Whether it is the stained glass windows, the war memorials, the detailed carvings and reredos, the beautiful ceramics or the Anglo-Saxon font, the building seems to have been irrevocably marked by the centuries it has survived and the people it has served.
