Set in the beautiful county of Cumbria, the grounds of Wray Castle are welcoming with a wide array of Wellington, Redwood, Beech and Ginkgo biloba trees. Built in the year 1840, this castle was made for a retired surgeon, James Dawson, who also built the Wray Church nearby. Upon Dawson's death, this property was handed over to his nephew and in 1877 his cousin took upon the idea of handing it to National Trust so as to protect the property in the years to come. The location is closed from December to February, so check the timings carefully before planning a trip. Owing to the small car park and to promote the 'green spirit', Wray Castle offers boat and bus travelers a special discount voucher to use!
