A university city is one which houses a majority of the university population, and Konstanz, located on Lake Constance is one such city in Germany. Konstanz has a deep-rooted history, for over 1000 years it was here in the city where the Roman Catholic Diocese of Konstanz was located. A few settlements and findings here date it to the Stone Age. The city's Old Town, the main cathedral (Konstanz Cathedral) and the University are famous attractions here.
