Rose Castle is a former residence of bishops of Carlisle from the period of 1230 to 2009. This fortified piece of beauty is marked by the English Heritage as a Grade I listed building. Though it is not open to public, it can be viewed from the nearby road or the public footpath connecting Rosebank to Raughton Head.
