Follow the Loiret River straight to its heart in the Parc Floral de la Source. The land on which the park now resides was controlled by the monks of the Abbey Saint-Mesmin de Micy, who were given the land by Clovis. It was then passed between various lords until a French garden was planted on the site in the 18th Century. The city of Orleans acquired the grounds in 1959 and established a 35 hectare (86.48 acre) park. Today, the park is divided into two sections. The first section, La plaine du Val de Loire, is dedicated to flowers, primarily in the Loire Valley, while the Plateau de Sologne showcases flora and fauna, including alpacas, that are found on the nearby plateau.
