The Eilan is a historic shinty stadium which has been hosting matches since 1877. The sport of Shinty roughly resembles field hockey and has been popular in Scotlands for hundreds of years. The stadium is home to the Newtonmore Camanachd club which owns and maintains the venue, and has won the national championship in the game on many occasions. The grounds have hosted a number of tournaments including the finals of the 2010 Sutherland cup and Newtonmore Highland Games are played here every August.
