Next to Lago Argentina and set against the backdrop of Cerro Pietrobelli of Chile, Perito Moreno Glacier a charming symphony in blue. This unique glacier is a rugged expanse of 250 square kilometers (97 square miles) comprising of white icicles radiating breathtaking blue hues. A part of the Los Glaciares National Park, it is formed by the Southern Patagonian Ice Field, which is also the source of 47 other glaciers in the region. The blue color of the glacier is the result of the thick density of the ice that has pushed out all the air. Apart from its enchanting color and the scenic views that flank the icy wonder, the glacier is advancing in size contrary to other glaciers. A mystery that has intrigued several glaciologists, it has also attracted tourists who want to witness the fascinating ruptures of the glacier. A popular destination for hiking and guided tours, the Perito Moreno is a blue jewel of the country.
